Sunday was the big day to fly home for the first time we moved to Tokyo. Dylan was excited to go for an airplane ride with his blue airplane bag filled with goodies and surprises for him to play with. On Saturday, we were shopping for gifts for people back home and decided to go for lunch. We were brought to our table and just as our seats were being pulled under us, Dylan got sick. He threw up all over himself and me. I grabbed him and tore out of the restaurant. Greg gathered all of our gear and met me at the curb. We hopped in a taxi, praying he wouldn't get sick in the taxi - prayer works! Much of the last five days seems like a blur, mostly cleaning up after a sick little boy and trying to figure out what to do for him. But I won't forget the two trips out to the airport trying to board a plane, each time thankful we did not end up flying that day. We tried over the phone to rebook, but they said we had to rebuy the tickets -no thanks! So we got to the airport and they saw how sick he was and decided it would be best if we didn't fly and to try the next day. Hmm, I was trying to tell the agent over the phone that!!! The next day comes and he is about the same, on and off being sick. This trip involved a taxi ride costing more than you want to know! I got there and about to check-in but apparently my ticket had been red-flagged, the supervisor came over and said that my child was too sick to fly. Really? I didn't know that. I was rather perturbed that I had just spent Dylan's first year of college tuition to get to the airport, only for them to tell me I couldn't fly. Perturbed for about a minute, thankful for the next 48 hours. Dylan has never been so sick. We went to the doctor's office and the doctor said that if he vomited one more time, he would have to be hospitalized for dehydration. Not what a mother or father want to hear but at least Dylan will be getting what he needs. Fortunately, he was over throwing up and spent the entire day sleeping. His feet never hit the ground that day. Today he shows signs of improvement and is keeping fluids down. He even ate a pancake with a little "dip-dip". We will try for the third time to fly home on Saturday. We will spend two weeks in Pittsburgh and three weeks in Grand Rapids. We can't wait to see everyone again!
Man! I'm glad he's getting better. That sounds aweful! I hope you are feeling better too...
We hope to see you guys when you visit the freezer here in Michigan:)
